To Indulge

It is often thought a dirty thing
Especially when
It is considered sensible, wise
To deny those impulses
To forsake
To renounce
When all that is needed
Is a bit of discipline in delight
Restraint and revelry in equal measure
Urges denied find ugly ways to rise from where they are buried
Honest joy in ecstasy is the more prudent path
But perhaps I am immature
If so
Then I thank the gods for allowing my immaturity

Song choice: I Got You (I Feel Good) by James Brown
This poem was created from a prompt offered by Magaly Guerrero for NaPoWriMo (Day 3: Indulgences)

    1. Yeah, I couldn't resist the double entendres, but isn't that what indulgence is all about? Giving in to those whims?

  6. If to miss the best tastes is to grow up, then I shall be forever a child.

*joins hands with Gina and Rommy and the skipping and tasting goes on*

  7. Grandpa used to say, "Never give-up on a good notion."

Maturity is just one step away from rot.

  9. A tiny hint of naughtiness atop your usual serving of good words. Nice work, Rommy.

  10. Hee hee thanks I love this! I sometimes feel weird being a fashion addict and someone who hates our money economy and wants to live a simpler life!

  12. Maturity is much over rated, hang on to immaturity as long as you can, savour all the delights you chose with the wide eyed innocence of the young.
